SIT40521 Certificate IV in Ageing Support

This qualification reflects the role of support workers who complete specialised tasks and functions in aged services; either in residential, home or community based environments. Workers will take responsibilities for their outputs within defined organisation guidelines and maintain quality service delievery through the development, facilitation and review of individualised service planning and delivery.

Training Package Requirements

To achieve this qualification, the candidate msut have completed at least 120 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment requirements of the units of competency.
A possible training after completing this qualification, individuals may undertake further studies in CHC43121 Certificate IV in Disability Support or CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support. Employment outcomes may include the following role:
Personal care assistant
Personal care giver
Personal care worker
Residential care worker

Prerequisites

Students must be 18 years or older.
Students must undertake a Language, Lietracy and Numeracy test prior to enrolment. To gain entry into this course, student must have been determined as having the appropriate LLN capability.
This program has been designed to be delivered through classroom based delivery and students must have the ability to attend the scheduled sessions as per the timetable. Students are to be informed of the timetable. Students are to be informed of the timetable prior to enrolment and are to maintain the required student contact hours.
All students must provide a current Police Check prior to the work placement component of the course.
Student must be prepared to follow industry dress code.
SStudents must have access to a camera/ mobile phone camera.

Course Duration

52 weeks including 3 weeks break and 4 weeks of practical placement

Mode of Delivery

Face to face in a classroom, workplace training , Simulated or a mixture of modes (blended learning).

Deliver Methods

It is delivered face to face (class based). Learners will be assess through questioning, projects, case scenarios, research and observation in the workplace. Practical work placement of 120 hours forms part of the course.
