HSC – VET In Schools Program

The school based hairdressing apprenticeship program has been designed to allow students to enter into a hairdressing career by under taking the 1st year of the apprenticeship whilst completing HSC studies at School.

Students will develop the underpinning knowledge and skills related to work, employment and further training within the hairdressing industry.

The School Based Apprenticeship in Hairdressing provides students with the opportunity to:

  • Kick start a career in hairdressing
  • Gain a potential of one-year credit towards the Certificate III in Hairdressing apprenticeship
  • Receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment Certificate III in Hairdressing with credit towards 11 units of Competency.
  • Gain 4 units of HSC credit
  • Possible Paid employment under an appropriate industrial arrangement
  • A training agreement between the employer and apprentice, registered with the NSW Department of Education and Training
  • Structured on-the-job training
  • A training program, delivered by a Registered Training Organisation Impact Training Institute.

The skills and knowledge acquired over the two-year School Based Apprenticeship will give students an invaluable head start over other school leavers seeking a hairdressing apprenticeship.

Through a School Based Apprenticeship, students will be on their way to graduate from the Certificate III in Hairdressing (Apprenticeship Pathway) as a trade qualified hairdresser with the skills and knowledge to work effectively as part of a team and be able to perform a full range of client services, including:
