Fee Terms Condition

Students eligible to enrol into a Smart and Skilled program, will be required to contribute towards the cost of training through the payment of a student fee. The Fees Terms and Conditions have been established by the NSW Department of Education and Communities and all approved providers under Smart and Skilled must provide all students will the same fees and charges.The schedule of fees for each can be accessed at: www.training.nsw.gov.au/smartandskilled/prices_fees.html.

There are five categories of student fees, based on the qualification and the characteristics of the student. The five student fee categories are:

  1. Standard Student—First Qualification
  2. Standard Student—Subsequent Qualification
  3. Apprenticeship (for qualifications offered as part of an apprenticeship pathway)
  4. Concession
  5. Exemption

 

SMART & SKILLED FEE ELIGIBILITY TABLE

Standard Student—First Qualification Fee The Standard Student—First Qualification fee applies to students who do not hold a post-school qualification. Qualifications include vocational and higher education qualifications achieved in Australia or overseas.

Programs under Smart and Skilled applicable for this fee are:

1.    Entitlement - Full Qualifications Program.

2.    Entitlement - Traineeship Qualifications Program.

3.    Targeted Priorities - Full Qualifications Program.

Please note:

Qualifications which are not deemed to be Post-School qualifications are:

o    qualifications achieved during Secondary School years; and

o    Qualifications achieved prior to turning 17 old; and

o    Certificate I level qualifications; and

o    Smart and Skilled Entitlement Foundation Skills qualifications

15 – 17 year olds will only pay the First qualification fee regardless of any previous qualifications held.

The fee for a NSW New-Entrant Trainee is always at the First Qualification rate, regardless of the number or level of previous post school qualifications they hold.

Apprenticeship Fees There is only one fee category for apprentices. An apprentice will be eligible for the apprenticeship fee regardless of the number or level of previous post-school qualifications they hold. The fee for an apprenticeship is capped at $2000.

Standard Student—Subsequent Qualification Fee The Standard Student—Subsequent Qualification Fee applies to students who already hold a post school qualification. This category includes vocational and higher education qualifications achieved in Australia or overseas.

Programs under Smart and Skilled applicable for this fee are:

1.    Entitlement - Full Qualifications Program.

2.    Targeted Priorities - Full Qualifications Program.

CONCESSION FEES Concessions are provided for students/learners that are disadvantaged. Fees are a flat fee for the qualification level and are discounted rates.

Concession rates for subsidised training courses under Smart and Skilled are only applicable for qualifications up to and including Certificate IV Level.  Students in receipt of a specified Commonwealth benefit or allowance are eligible for a concession fee.

PLEASE NOTE:

The concession fee is also available to a student who is a dependent of a person receiving a specified Commonwealth benefit or allowance. To be eligible for the concession the person who the student is a dependent of must be receiving the benefit or allowance at the time of enrolment.

There are no concessions for students enrolling in Diplomas and Advanced Diplomas.

1.    Entitlement - Full Qualifications Program.

2.    Entitlement - Traineeship Qualifications Program.

3.    Targeted Priorities - Full Qualifications Program.

FEE EXEMPTIONS Students who qualify for a fee exemption are not required to pay any fees for subsidised training under Smart and Skilled. Individuals eligible to apply for a fee exemption are:

1.     Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people

2.     People with a disability (that is people who meet the disability fee exemption criteria, including the dependent child, spouse or partner of a recipient of a Disability Support Pension).

3.     Fee-free scholarships: A social housing resident or person on the NSW Housing Register (waiting list).

Frequency of exemption

Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students can apply for exemption from fees for any Smart and Skilled enrolments for which they are eligible. However personal and program eligibility criteria must be met.

A student with a disability or their dependent, where eligible for the program, is entitled to one exemption per calendar year and a concession for all subsequent enrolments up to Certificate IV in a calendar year.

A Fee-Free Scholarship approved learner is eligible for one scholarship per financial year (commencing 1 July 2015) and a maximum of two scholarships over four financial years (ending 30 June 2019).

Programs under Smart and Skilled applicable for this Exemption are:

1.    Entitlement - Full Qualifications Program.

2.    Entitlement - Traineeship Qualifications Program.

3.    Targeted Priorities - Full Qualifications Program (Certificate IV level only)

4.    Pre-Vocational and Part Qualifications Program

 

Please note: Fee-free Scholarships provide learners with an opportunity to enrol in qualifications ranging from Certificate I to IV level qualifications.

 

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) - Fees and Charges

If you are applying for an RPL pathway under a subsidised training program, students will be required to pay the full student fee on enrolment, and once you are granted recognition of prior learning (RPL) for one or more units of competency, the qualification price will be adjusted and a new student fee determined. Impact Training Institute will reduce the student fee applicable based on the Provider Calculator available through the Department of Education and Communities provider portal, and provide the student with a refund for the units granted under RPL.

Credit Transfer - Fees and Charges

Students who provide Impact Training Institute with a certified or original transcript for the units of competency they are undertaking in a course they are enrolling into under Smart and Skilled, will be granted a credit transfer (CT) for one or more units of competency, and the qualification price will be adjusted and a new student fee determined. Impact Training Institute will reduce the student fee applicable based on the Provider Calculator available through the Department of Education and Communities provider portal. This assessment and pricing structure will be determined through Impact Training Institute’s enrolment process.
