DEFER TRAINING

Students that need to defer Subsidised Training in an approved qualification must provide a written notice and attention it to the RTO Manager at training@iti.edu.au. The letter must provide reasons for the deferral and a time frame for the return. Students are only permitted to a maximum of 12 months to defer from a qualification. The 12 month period is calculated from the date of receipt of the deferral notice. The RTO manager will review the request and will discuss options for your return.

If you do not return to your studies within a 12 month period or within the indicated deferral return date as per the written notice and/or advice, we will be required to report your outcome to the department as discontinuing. For discontinued outcomes please refer to our discontinuing process under Smart & Skilled.

STUDENT WITHDRAWAL

Students that are considering discontinuing or transferring from their training are advised to discuss this with the Training Manager or RTO Manager. In the event of student dissatisfaction, we recommend that you follow the Institutes Grievance and Complaints handling procedure before deciding to discontinue training.  The Institute is focused on your development and we are keen to support you through your learning and development endeavours.

In the event that you still want to discontinue your training or you have decided to discontinue training on your own accord you will be required to provide the RTO manager with a written or formal notice of the date you wish to withdraw, in order for the Institute to finalise you training. Once we receive the formal advice you will be provided with:

    • A refund of any unused training fees, please refer to our ‘Refund Policy’, within the student handbook
    • A Statement of Attainment within 21 days of receipt of your notice to discontinue or transfer
    • An up to date training plan
    • Results regarding any outstanding units of competency you have submitted
